C'mon, get happy!

Ok, just so you all know that it is humanly possible, I enjoyed today's show - sorta. I decided to try and view the whole Manny/Ben crap from an individual episodic viewpoint, and that helped. My overall problems with them (and the show in general) have not ceased to exist, however. That being said, here are my thoughts, scrambled though they may be.

BILL/MATT/RICK/VANESSA/CARMEN:

Rick - Well, he's been put in his one episode per week. Too bad it couldn't have been with Abby yesterday. They must've just missed each other.

Vanessa - Well, here we go. Everything is once again the Santos' fault. Thank GAWD. I've been missing this for a long time. As much as I love the idea of Danny trying to fit into Michelle's life and vice versa, I've been itching for the "supposed" bad guys to actually BE the bad guys. Not watered down version of mobster-wanna be's. I actually liked Vanessa's outburst. She's always been a protective person, and right now she feels so helpless, physically and emotionally. In the limited time she's been on our screens for the last few months, her breakdown was much easier to believe than Michelle's. And now for the $64,000 question - What kind of disease does Vanessa have? The kind that causes you to faint once you reach your yelling quota?

Carmen - Um, what was Carmen wearing? Some alternate universe Doris Day dress?. Carmen, you're pathetic. I used to think you were strong, but now you don't even elicit one ounce of pity from me. How can she let Vanessa say all that in public and just walk out? Where's the bitch? Where's Carmen Santos? Lost forever, I fear.

REVA/JOSH/CASSIE:

Is one day too much to ask when I don't have to watch this? Just one day? Anyway, apparently misery loves company to the nth degree at Cassie's house.

Josh - LOL @ "Reva returns to San Cristobel" - what are you doing? Helping the soap mags with headlines now? I like the friendship between Cassie and Josh, it really doesn't seem forced. Hopefully, they won't throw them into anything romantic to cause an incredibly cheesy quadrangle (with a splash of Olivia to make things interesting).

Reva - Gee, come on in. Don't bother knocking or anything. Actually, as much as I love Cassie calling Reva on the carpet, I think we have a case of the pot calling the prince-drooling bleach blond black.

Jeva - So, it's over huh? Yeah, ok. Next time, I want to actually believe it, ok?

PILAR/RAY:

Ray - Interesting fashion choice. I know this punker guy who has that exact same jacket. I don't dislike GA like some, but that may be because I liked him over on GH. I do miss JP, but he didn't have enough screen time as Ray in order to make it difficult to see GA grow into the part (that is, if they give him more than one episode per month).

Pilar - A little random thought... they shouldn't give 2 pages of dialogue to someone who can't handle it. But here I sit, impressed that at least one Santos can speak Spanish.

THE SHREW, THE DO, AND THE COW THAT SAYS MOO:

Ok, so I couldn't think of anything else that rhymed. This took up most of the show, so these thoughts will be TOTALLY random.

Susan - Could she be more adorable? Not much to say except I totally adore BS and love how nervous Susan was.

Max - Almost a non entity, huh? Except for the fact that this was about HIS adoption, he really didn't need to be there, huh?

Buzz & Selena - Ditto. Though I totally understand their presence.

What was this, the I love Drew hour? The "Drew seems to be good for a lot of people" line from Ross made me choke on my Pepsi.

Manny's arrival - Ok, stick Manny on the cover of some fashion mag, cuz they were GOOOOOOOD lookin' today! Quite the stylish couple, eh? Although I miss the leather, I'd much rather see Danny in this kind of suit than anything with a tie. And why is it that their hand-holding, to me, is sexier than watching any other couple do the deed? Love the swinging hands.. sigh. Oh my Manny... the little rough and tumble jiggling of Michelle when Danny mentions throwing a punch at someone turned me all-a-puddle. Was I the only one envisioning some of their wilder nights in bed for a brief moment? Oh, ok, guess I was. :)  I loved seeing Danny in full supportive mode today. Watch when Susan walks up to the stand - What in the world did Danny have to whisper to Michelle? Hmm.

Random - How come no courtrooms I've been in have ever looked like it stepped out of a Home & Gardens magazine?

Back to Manny - But anyway, I was seriously wondering for a moment why the hell they were there. When Michelle said she had to "do this for Drew" I was a little taken aback, but it made a little bit of sense. Michelle was never mad at Drew, it was Ben. (Keep in mind, I'm consciously deciding to forget all of their history as I say that) But I will say that the choppiness of inserting this storyline into everything else going on was startling, though I see how they needed a backdrop for all of this to come out. Plus, now, Michelle's motive is now on court documents! Oh goodie.

Jesse - Did you grow a brain when I was fuh fuh'ing through all of your scenes? LOL.. when Ben is going on and on about how Drew should be re-named Mother Theresa, the look on PB's face is almost one of "disgust", not love.

I have only one thing to say to Drew as I watch her demand to be heard: You're stupid.

Loved Danny's reaction, though.

Michelle on her way up to and on the stand - Danny didn't want to let her go. * sigh * I can't even comment on Michelle's Drew praise. I did my best not to listen to it.

Drew/Michelle confrontation - First first FIRST thing I noticed was the HUGE disparity in couple-ness here. Notice how Danny, the first chance he gets, defends his wife? But also note how Jesse can't do anything but physically hold Drew back? He doesn't agree with her, he knows Michelle is right. This put a smile on my face. But knowing that even if Danny knew Michelle was wrong about something, he would still defend her to anybody and everybody in public. Onward... Now, what we have here is something good. Even though the wrapping sucks, what they did with Drew TODAY (and I'm so stressing today) was bring her back to the Drew we all knew and despised a year ago. We all may have hated what she said to Michelle, but this was what we should've expected.  I know that this is what *I* had come to expect from Drew - mis-guided accusations, mis-informed allegations, and a temper that doesn't know the meaning of subtlety. Still a bit over the top for my tastes from TB, but the scene itself was pretty damn good. I know I'll have more thoughts about this as it goes along.

Exchange of the day -

Danny: What, you haven't been disbarred yet?
Ben: Well at least try to be civil.
Danny: No thanks.

All in all, I'm not crabby. Not jumping for joy, but not disgusted. But then again, it's always easier when you take things on an episode by episode basis. It's when I look at the larger picture that I start to feel defeated. Hopefully, today can be some kind of a springboard. And I'm hoping that the sooner this murder plot gets started, the sooner it can end.

In leaving, let me give you a tip of the day ¡V stay away from consuming liquids during your GL hour - it can be harmful to your health. Salud!
